What to Do Before Legion Patch 7.2 Thursday, March 16, 2017
With the end of the PvP Season announcement, Patch 7.2 is likely coming sooner than later to Legion. We've compiled a list of things players should get done before the next patch hits--and what to hold off on as it will be easier to complete in the patch.
Table of Contents
Pathfinder Part One Broken Isles Pathfinder, Part Two is coming, and one requirement is Broken Isles Pathfinder, Part One. Track your progress with Wowhead's flying toolto see what you still need to complete for the achievement. Broken Isles Pathfinder, Part One is the most time-consuming part of the requirement, as the other achievements are quite easy. The new achievements require players to complete Legion invasions ( Defender of the Broken Isles), hit Revered with the new faction [ Legionfall Commander), and explore the new zone ( Explore Broken Shore).
Reach 35 Artifact TraitsIn Patch 7.2, players that reach 35 Artifact Traits are eligible to empower their weapons, unlocking a whole new set of powerful traits as well as the ability to upgrade 3/3 traits to 4/4. If you don't have many traits yet, you can regularly work on your Artifact Knowledge, do World Quests, and look for one-time quests that reward lots of AP.But what if you are above 35 Artifact Traits? Reddit user octnoir created a conversion table showing how the Artifact Power from 7.1.5 traits will convert into 7.2 traits. This conversion is important because all Artifact Power put into the 20 point trait is refunded in 7.2, and can be spent on new empowered traits that are stronger.
TLDR; 35 for doing the Empowered 7.2. questline, 36 for the first 7.2 trait, 41 for the second, 46 for the third, and 51 for the fourth. So if you are over 35 traits, consider reaching one of those trait breakpoints since you will get enough Artifact Power refunded in 7.2 for more traits. However, if you are far off from a trait breakpoint, take farming easy since acquiring the new traits will be easier in 7.2 with higher Artifact Knowledge caps.Check out Artifact Weapons: What's New in Patch 7.2, Octnoir's Trait Post and the PTR Artifact Calculator for more details on Artifacts.
Complete Class CampaignCompleting the class campaign grants players a 3rd artifact relic slot currently in Legion. In 7.2, the class campaign will also be the prerequisite for new Order Hall quests. These new quest series reward the following:
Check out the Class Hall Campaign for the Third Relic Guide for more information on what to complete before 7.2 hits.
Max out Artifact KnowledgePlayers that complete the new empowered traits in Patch 7.2, as well as the questline for their flying mount, are eligible to purchase vanity items like pets and toys. The amount of Artifact Power required to achieve Power Ascended may seem daunting at first, but since Artifact Knowledge scales up to 50 in 7.2, you'll start getting massive amounts of Artifact Power from tokens. Make sure you're doing your Artifact Knowledge research regularly so you're at 25 when the patch hits. If you have alts, there are catch-up mechanisms to help them with AK.For a full list of what classes have special Power Ascended items, check out the Power Ascended overview.
Farm Transmog ItemsWith new transmog achievements coming in 7.2 for collecting every Raid and PvP set, now is a great time to start preparing for this achievement. Collecting 10 full sets, including wrists, rewards the Stylist %s title in 7.2 for Azeroth's Next Top Model.Wowhead has put together two guides highlighting our transmog set database and where each instance or transmog vendor is located:
Farm Mark of HonorThe new patch adds Season 1 and 2 appearances for Mark of Honor (vendors Lieutenant Surtees and Apothecary Lee), as well as many Ensembles. The cost of the Ensemble is overall cheaper than buying each armor slot individually (12 vs 17 Marks). As the previous section mentions, there are achievements for collecting a full PvP set.
Reach Exalted for Paragon RewardsContinue to earn reputation past Exalted in Patch 7.2 with the Paragon system. For every 20,000 reputation earned past Exalted with a faction, you earn a rewards cache with a chance to contain a special item.
A steady way to gain reputation is to complete World Quests; for more details on these factions check out Wowhead's Reputation Guides.
Stockpile Crafting MaterialsCrafters can make new ilvl 940 BoE legendaries in Patch 7.2. The materials required for these items may be in demand, although each legendary requires the crafter to complete a long questline so it make take some time before these appear on the market:
Level Battle Pets for DungeonsBlizzard's very first battle pet dungeon awaits players in 7.2! This pet dungeon has a beginner mode ( Wailing Critters) as well as an advanced mode ( Pet Battle Challenge: Wailing Caverns). If you are new to pet battling, just level your pets to 25 for the earlier difficulty. The Legion Pet Battling Primer by Elektrophorus can help you out.Read more in our Wailing Critters in Wailing Caverns overview.
Things to Hold Off On
Ahead of the Curve
: Ahead of the Curve: Gul'dan
and Ahead of the Curve: Helya
remain obtainable with the launch of 7.2. Players cannot complete these achievements once Tomb of Sargeras is live, which will be sometime after 7.2, not right with the launch of 7.2.
Mythic Dungeon Attunements: In Patch 7.2, The Arcway, Court of Stars, Lower Karazhan, and Upper Karazhan have been added to the Random Legion Heroic list. These dungeons are only available on Mythic difficulty in 7.1.5 and require previous questing. If you only want to see the dungeons for lore purposes, wait until 7.2 when you can complete them on an easier difficulty.
Grinding AP at Cap: Do not save up Artifact Power tokens if you are capped on your weapon, as you will not be able to use them on your empowered weapon in 7.2. When you complete the quest to empower your artifact and unlock more traits, your tokens are voided.
Farming Reputation Tokens at Exalted
: With the addition of Paragon Rewards for every 20k reputation past Exalted in 7.2, many players thought it would be useful to save up Reputation tokens and use them towards the 7.2 Paragon grind. This is not the case; Blizzard has clarified the wording of these reputation tokens to state they do not work past Exalted. Example: Greater Valarjar Insignia
. If you are not sure if an insignia has changed, visit the PTR version of the page on Wowhead and compare the wording.
